What does opengateway charge?#

opengateway tracks provider pass-through LLM cost and platform fees for your team. The Billing page shows payment methods, payment history, credit balance, and account history.

The pricing model#

opengateway charges two components:

  1. Provider pass-through cost. The actual rate OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google charges, which is the same rate you would pay if you billed directly.
  2. Platform fee. A small percent that funds the gateway, the dashboard, the logs, and every product you unlock on the platform.

Why a usage-based platform fee#

We considered a flat SaaS fee and rejected it for three reasons:

  • Small teams would pay too much. A founder running $100 of LLM calls per month should not pay $500 for a platform.
  • Large teams would pay too little. A company running $500K of LLM calls per month should not pay the same $500 for a platform they are hammering.
  • Usage-based pricing scales with the value you get out of the platform, which keeps incentives aligned.

Billing surfaces the current team account and payment records:

  • credit balance
  • payment methods
  • payment history
  • account history

Free credits#

New teams start with free credits so you can try the platform without a credit card. The amount and expiry date are visible in Billing, under Credits.

If credits run low, a banner appears in the dashboard. Add a payment method before they are exhausted to avoid interruption.

When we bill#

Billing is usage-based. Live costs are visible in the dashboard and request costs are visible in logs.

Cost visibility#

The Dashboard shows live cost, the Logs let you audit every request, and your credit card company lets you set a monthly cap.

When things do not go your way#

  • Provider errors. Check the request log and cost details for the specific request. Costs are based on recorded provider usage.

FAQ#

Does the platform fee stack on top of your own costs (bandwidth, infra)?

No. The platform fee sits on top of the provider LLM cost only. We absorb infrastructure costs ourselves.

Can I see the exact platform fee percentage?

Yes, on the pricing page once you are logged in. It is a flat single-digit percent for all tiers today.

What if I already have credits with OpenAI?

Today, opengateway bills you and we pay OpenAI on your behalf.
